Lafortune Felix:
Lafortune Felix was born in 1933 in Pontsonde, near St. Marc and became a houngan (voodoo priest in 1958. in 1976 Pierre Monosiet the then assistant of Dewitt Peters and Curator of the musée d'art haïtien du collège Saint Pierre de Port-au-Prince after noticing the outside walls of his hounfor tht Lafortune Felix had painted, encouraged the artist by giving him some painting material and purchased his first paintings. Since then, Lafortune Felix became a painter. Lafortune Felix exclusively paints with acrylique, religious subjects either voodoo or christian. Lafortune Felix, One of the featured Haitian artists in the 1982 book by Seldon Rodman, "Where Art Is Joy" The First Forty Years.
